The Tasmanian Government remains committed to improving the lives of Tasmanian children and young people in care. Part of the child safety system’s accountability structure includes the Commissioner for Children and Young People (CCYP) who provides independent advice regarding the wellbeing and rights of children and young people.

Late last year, the CCYP released their first Out-of-Home Care Monitoring Report.

We are already undertaking a number of initiatives to continue to strengthen Tasmania’s out-of-home care system, however, there is still more work to be done.
