Community Housing Options
Community housing is a social housing option for Tasmanians on low incomes.
Community housing providers can provide more housing services because they have more ways of funding their housing services including maintenance.
Under the Community Housing Growth Program, community housing providers will increase the number of tenancies they manage for Housing Tasmania to around 6 000 properties. This is about half of all the social housing in the State.
Community housing providers will start delivering tenancy management in new suburbs:
Centacare Evolve Housing started on Wednesday, 1 September 2021.
Community Housing Limited and Mission Australia Housing will begin on Tuesday, 2 November 2021.
Housing Choices Tasmania will begin on Monday, 8 November 2021.
If you are looking for social housing, think about applying for both community and public housing (Housing Tasmania) to increase your opportunities for housing.
This includes giving consent to share your information with all the social housing providers who have homes in all the suburbs where you want to live.
Community housing providers also manage their own properties in other suburbs statewide.
You can find out which suburbs have community housing in the table below. You can find out more about the community housing provider by clicking on their logo.
