The Huntingfield subdivision will help expand the vibrant Kingborough community and provide housing options that meet the needs and budgets of more Tasmanians.

The land lies east of the Channel Highway, between Huntingfield and the North West Bay Golf Club.

The site was rezoned through the Housing Land Supply Act 2018 and includes

  • 34 hectares of Open Space Zone
  • 34 hectares of General Residential Zone, Inner Residential Zone and a strategic pocket of the Local Business Zone.

Increasing Housing Supply

The Huntingfield development will offer a well-located, modern, mixed-residential design of around 470 lots that includes a range of lot sizes.

Some smaller lots and terraces will allow more families an opportunity for home ownership and housing more suitable for older Tasmanians to age in place.

Supporting the Economy

The project will bring significant ongoing economic and social benefits to the local area and the broader Tasmanian community including job creation in the building industry.

The subdivision works are expected to inject around $19 million into the local economy and create over 140 full-time jobs. The construction of homes is expected to result in almost $120 million in economic activity, creating over 850 jobs.

Public comment is now invited on the Huntingfield development stages 2 and 3 residential development, specifically the actions and measures we propose to protect significant natural assets, including the Forty-spotted Pardalote.
