The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians living with a disability, their families and carers. The NDIS will help people with disability achieve their goals. This may include greater independence, community involvement, employment and improved wellbeing.
The NDIS will provide all Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to enjoy an ordinary life.
The NDIS is now available in Tasmania.
The NDIS has been rolled out progressively in Tasmania since July 2013 and will have fully transitioned by July 2019.
The Department of Communities Tasmania is committed to supporting clients to access services via the NDIS.
