Being inclusive means providing a range of options to cater for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. It is important that sport and recreation organisations reflect the diversity of the community in order to provide opportunities for everyone to become involved and participate in various roles and activities.

The Australian Human Rights Commission, Sport Australia and the Coalition of Major Professional and Participation Sports recently partnered together to develop the Guidelines for the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people in sport.

These guidelines highlight important legislative requirements and provide sporting organisations with practical advice on how to create and promote an inclusive environment for transgender and gender diverse people to participate in sport.
