About the Centenary of ANZAC

The Centenary of ANZAC represents one of the most significant occasions for our nation. From 2014 to 2018, Tasmania, along with the rest of Australia will commemorate 100 years since the country's involvement in World War One.
During the Centenary of ANZAC we will remember not only the original ANZACs who served at Gallipoli and the Western Front, but also commemorate more than a century of service by Australian servicemen and women.
The Tasmanian Government, through the Department of Premier and Cabinet's Communities, Sport and Recreation Tasmania, will play a leading role in co-ordinating and supporting commemorative activities and events.
A State Government Steering Committee was appointed in January 2013, and a Working Group was established in May. A Community Reference Group, which has representation from the Returned and Service League (RSL), Red Cross, Local Government Association of Tasmania, Catholic Education Office and the Australian Army Museum, has also been established to provide advice and information to the Steering Committee and State Government agencies.
Calendar of events
During the Centenary of ANZAC communities across Tasmania will come together to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australians, in particular Tasmanians, who have served in Australia's Defence Force. We welcome and encourage communities to share details of their event with us.
