Applications are now open for the Women’s Leadership Scholarship: Board Diversity Governance Scholarship 2021-22.

Ten scholarships are on offer for Tasmanian women to increase governance and leadership skills and empower women and girls to fully participate in our economic, social, political and community life.

There is substantial evidence that having women in leadership provides benefits to the government, private and community sectors.

Equal representation in leadership also allows women to influence decisions which affect their lives, further narrow the gender pay gap and realise their full potential.

The 10 scholarships on offer include seven Foundation of Directorship Courses and three Company Director Courses, to support women’s appointment to government, private and not-for-profit boards.

Since 2015, the Tasmanian Government has supported 87 scholarships for Tasmanian women to build their governance and leadership skills by attending courses run by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

The Scholarship is a joint initiative of the Tasmania Government and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), to support Tasmanians to gain a greater understanding of the duties and responsibilities of being a Board Director.
