Overview

The Tasmanian Government acknowledges the impact of COVID-19 and resulting sporting competition postponements and cancellations on revenues for the organisations that support these activities.

Tranche 2 of the COVID-19 Sport and Recreation Grants Program provided sport and recreation clubs and associations with grants of up to $3 000 to assist with hygiene and equipment purchases to comply with the relevant Return to Play plan.

Tranche 3 is an extension of Tranche 2, providing sport and recreation clubs and associations with grants of up to $3 000 to assist with hygiene and equipment purchases to comply with the relevant Return to Activity/Play or Safety plans. Organisations will be funded on a ‘first-in’ basis. Organisations funded under Tranche 2 are not eligible to apply for Tranche 3.

Eligible Organisations

Tranche 3 of the COVID-19 Sport and Recreation Grants Program is funded through the Community Support Levy (CSL). Legislation requires that funding under this Grants Program is provided for the benefit of sport and recreation clubs.

Applicant organisations must:

  • be an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation; or
  • a not-for-profit company registered under company law;
  • have a COVID-19 Safety Plan or Return to Activity/Play Plan; and
  • be a sport or recreation provider.

All applicants funded under this Program must comply with any COVID-19 requirements and restrictions for events in place at the time of their event, including the Tasmanian Government’s A Framework for COVID-19 Safe Events and Activities in Tasmania.
